Light and Space
Academic year: Spring 2020
Instructor: Jennifer Akerman
Class type: Design Studio II
Project type: Theoretical
This project, titled “Light and Shadow: Crafting Luminous Atmospheres,” explores how physical models can easily, accurately, and quickly represent enticing lighting conditions. With the rectangular prism as the base form for manipulation, different aperture types were used to achieve distinct lighting conditions both within and outside the model space. This purely formal and theoretical design exercise doesn’t attempt to evoke a complete design but instead represents the experimental and exploratory nature of model making.
